Frequently asked questions about NIS2 eligibility
What data do I need for the eligibility check?
You need your activity sector, number of employees, annual turnover and total balance sheet. Optionally: information about whether you provide unique critical services in your member state.
How accurate is the NIS2 calculator?
The calculator analyzes criteria from EU Directive 2022/2555 and national transposition laws. The result is indicative - final classification is determined by your national competent authority. Over 95% of standard cases are assessed correctly.
What is the difference between essential and important entities?
Essential entities are organizations in highly critical sectors (energy, transport, healthcare) with over 250 employees or turnover above 50M EUR. Important entities are in other critical sectors with over 50 employees or turnover above 10M EUR. The main difference: penalties are higher for essential entities (up to 10M EUR vs. 7M EUR).
What should I do after finding out I am in NIS2 scope?
Next steps include: registering with your national competent authority, completing a self-assessment on applicable security controls, implementing missing security measures and preparing compliance documentation. NIS2 Manager guides you through each step.
